Flooring
I am ready to redo my floors
- where do I begin?
If you need to replace your floor coverings, then you may need to consider replacing
all the floors in your house, looking at the whole house rather than piecemeal at
each room. You can decide to use different coverings in different parts of the house,
but by redoing all of the floors in one project, you can be sure that you have a
cohesive strategy, and that each area is treated in an appropriate manner.
Bedrooms and living areas
Bedrooms are often covered with wall-to-wall carpet, giving a warm and comfortable
feel to your bare feet when you get out of bed. However, you can consider a hardwood
floor or laminate flooring with rug coverings in strategic places such as by the
side of the beds. Your sitting room and den can also be treated similarly; a hardwood
floor in particular is hard wearing and easy to clean, giving you the easy care you
need in these living areas.
Kitchens and Bathrooms
Kitchens in particular need hardwearing and easy to clean options, and ceramic floors
are particularly appropriate here. You could consider a tile area around the kitchen
units, and laminate flooring in the dining area.
Bathrooms are often floored with wall-to-wall carpet, but you can also consider ceramic
floors, particularly useful if you have children.
